Questions?
FAQs
1. I am not photogenic, can you make me look good?
Yes, absolutely! First of all, I don’t believe there is such a thing as being photogenic. It is my job to bring out the best version of you. I’ll make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. All you have to do is relax and trust me.
2. How far in advance should I book my session?
I usually recommend booking your session a couple of weeks in advance. We need to find a date that works best for you, one of my wonderful hair and makeup artis, and myself. I’m a one photographer studio and only allow 2-3 bookings per week; the slots get booked up fairly quickly so best not to wait.
3. How long before I get to see my photos?
Your photo viewing appointment is usually 2 to 3 weeks after your photo shoot. Your finished product will be delivered 2-3 weeks after the photo viewing appointment depending on the products you have ordered. Our beautiful folio boxes are custom made and come all the way from Italy so expect 3 weeks for those.
4. How much should I expect to spend?
My photo session sitting fee is $250. T,this includes the preparation of the images, the photo shooting time and in-person photo viewing appointment. Professional hair & makeup is an additional $100 per person. (Images sold separately ).
My image fee starts at $150 each and it goes up from there. You have no obligation to buy. Purchase as few or as many as you choose. You can decide that at our viewing appointment. I generally show 30 to 40 of the best shots from our photo shoot. I’ve had clients spend as little as $450 and others spend $4,500. It’s entirely up to you. At the end of the day, I want you to be happy and go home only with only the images that you love and can not live without. The full list of our packages and large wall portraits prices are available at your photo viewing appointment.
5. May I just pay for the digital files?
Yes, you may The pricing is exactly the same. You will receive the corresponding digital files with every purchased print. Please understand that you are not paying for the printing, you are paying for the creation of the image. I use the same amount of time, effort, experience and creativity to create all of your images. It’s the image itself that is of value and meant to be cherished. This is why we chose legacy products in archival museum grade. They are made to be passed on from generation to generation. The photographs of you are not just for today, they are for your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren…They are priceless!
6. How long does the photo session take?
Makeup and hair takes 1-1.5 hour and photo shoot is about 2-3 hours. You can get changed to 3-5 different outfits. There is no washroom in my studio but you are welcome to use the one in my home, if necessary. Refreshments will be offered throughout our shoot.
7. Where will we be taking my photos? Do you have a studio?
I have renovated my garage to be an in-home studio. After you book your session, I will send you the address along with directions on how to find me.
If you have a specific location in mind, other than in-studio, I’m happy to accommodate and enjoy shooting anywhere. Additional fee will apply
8. On which day of the week can I have my photo session?
Let’s choose a day of the week that works best for you. Weekends tend to fill up fast so please book ahead. A Typical session starts at 1:00 pm.
9. These photos are gifts for my boyfriend/partner/husband. What’s your suggestion about the product I can order?
This depends if you are a wall portrait kind of person or a folio box kind of person. A beautiful portrait is great to hang in the master bedroom but a special box for him or her to pull out and look through photos once in a while is wonderful as well.
10. How much can you “Edit Out”?
We use studio lighting and posing to flatter your face, body and shape. We keep the “Photoshop” editing to the minimal unless otherwise requested. We remove any blemishes and smooth out skin tones. Anything you were born with, like birthmarks, or things that are permanent like scars or tattoos, stay (unless requested). Anything that is caused by gravity or aging is softened. (I’ve never once had someone tell me they want both of their chins in the photo) You will still look like you, just a more refreshed version of yourself.
11. I would like to surprise my wife/girlfriend/partner, daughter or a friend by giving her a photo session, what package should I buy for her?
That’s an awesome idea! This will be one of those greatest gifts she will ever receive. The photographic experience will pamper her and the beautiful photographs will empower. The Gift Voucher starts at $100, $250, $500 and then $1000
12. Can you keep my photos private and not post them?
I retain all rights to my images and you sign a model release prior to our photo shoot. Having said that, I would never post an image that you didn’t like or want me to use publicly. I respect your privacy, especially if we are doing a boudoir shoot or nude. Your photos are safe with me.
13. Do you photograph men?
Yes, I sure do. Having come from a background of photographing Combat Sports, I am very comfortable photographing men.
14. Do you share my photos on your website, Facebook and Instagram?
I love sharing my work with people and normally show one to three images from a shoot. I do understand you may not be comfortable with having your photos shared, so if that’s the case, just tell me and I will absolutely keep them in private.
15. I don’t look like a model, do you photograph everyday people?
Yes, I only photograph everyday people and guess what, even models don’t look like models in real life! Feeling comfortable and allowing your true essence to shine through is what makes a beautiful portrait. Over the span of our consultation and photography session I can do just that--make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. You will be stunned how great you look in your photos when we are done. Just because you aren’t a model, doesn’t mean you can’t feel like one.
16. I don’t know how to pose. Will you help guide me?
Most definitely, and you don’t have to worry about a thing. With simple instructions like “ chin forward and down, glance your eyes towards me, and place your right hand on your thigh.” you will always be posed in the most flattering way.
